Man's Best Friend

The [canine] boys have loved our tiny human from day number one. When we brought Nora home from the hospital, she became “their baby.” I’ll admit, I was slightly nervous as to how the initial introduction would go down, but our boys made us proud. They have been nothing but gentle, patient, and protective of our sweet girl.

Brand Spotlight: Zutano

We have quite a few companies that have truly partnered with us as a retailer and in turn, we feel it easy and natural to represent their brand to the very best of our ability. So, we thought we'd start a blog series called "Brand Spotlight" to share with you why we love the brands we sell at The Animal Kingdom.

Making Time

Having a child really puts “time” into perspective. Time has become more personal to me now that I truly understand the value of it – how quickly it comes and goes… how powerless we are to stop it from slipping by. The only control we have lies in what we choose to DO with the time we are given.

Household Icky-ness

Talk to any parent, and one thing we all seem to have in common is that utterly helpless feeling you get when your child is sick. The glassy eyes. The runny nose. The rattley chest.

Mom on the Run

Challenging as it may be, I wouldn’t trade running with Nora for anything in the world. I thought I enjoyed the meditative qualities of running before she came along, but now-a-days “the runners high” has a whole new meaning for me. Nora has been a passenger to the sport since she was 2 months old. Watching my baby gain a unique awareness of her surroundings while we zoom around town is priceless.

Cheap Date

Parenthood is full of surprises. If I had to list three of the biggest shockers I’ve encountered in the last 10 months, it would go something like this: 1) the amount of time I would spend discussing “poop” in those first few months; 2) the fact that I would willfully give up my beloved manual transmission car for the ease and roominess of a [gasp] minivan; and 3) the new meaning of the term, “date night.”

The Cheaper Diapers

Once Nora arrived, I was nervous which is natural for any new parent, and my “type A” personality came on strong when it came to the “right” and/or “wrong” way to do things. I was sure that the realms of right and wrong, good and less-than-good parenting, were black and white. I scoffed at the “live and learn and then get [cheaper diapers] commercial.” Cheap diapers couldn’t possibly be as good as the more expensive brands, right?
